Gentle, blue-green seas rolling,
Around me, holding,
Swells of peace,
Blanketing my heart,
Undergirding an endless horizon,
Azure sky,
My breath, taking.

Ocean’s splendor,
Nature’s secrets, assure,
Seafloor my foundation,
Leagues of depth, beneath,
Lifting, Archimedes’ dream,
Point of life’s departure,
From routine,
To the rapturous.

We launch ourselves, together,
From bow waves, building,
I fly with you,
Dolphins, left and right,
Propelling into space,
Savoring the joy of life,
Cascading to another world,
I roll with you.

We have only known this water,
This wave, holding us,
But in its surging,
New life, before us lies,
Sheen of wave’s surface,
Our eyes, piercing,
Our hearts, longing to break through.

Thrust, propel your spirit,
With mine, shooting,
Out running wave’s face,
Launching from water’s safety,
Freshening breeze, new dreams,
We inhale,
Our hunger to live, fulfilling.

Swim with me,
Dance ocean’s waltz with me,
Race through wave’s face,
To a new world,
Savor sunlight on our cheeks,
For the first time.

With me in your arms,

Frolic in joy.

Have you ever seen dolphins using the bow wave of a ship, to launch, to spring, to revel in the release of their ocean world…if only for a moment? Take that special person in your life, and do the same. Launch yourselves. Live. Love.

  2. Loved every word but I can’t swim with you Bill, no matter how much you insist I am sorry 😐 ! First I’m hydrophobic second I’m still exercising to fit into that white stripped swimming suit πŸ‘™ , I guess I’ll have to pass this opportunity to someone fitter and more water loving. My loss is someone’s gain!!

    1. That’s okay….

      Not to worry.

How about the shade of a palm tree, a reed mat, and a nice frozen drink…frost coating the outside of the glass?

        White sands, the context.

  3. This is really great Bill. And the message is lovely too.
I bet you have seen some amazing things in your time at sea. Such as whales/dolphins. I’ve never seen any marine animals, but my daughters 3rd grade field trip is to the aquarium, here in a couple months, and I’m really excited to see all the different sea animals. Especially the sharks lol.

    1. Thank you Jamie!!!

Yes…I spent years of my life at sea…watching dolphins and flying fish launch themselves from the bow wave of my submarine.

The sea is a gift to our lives. Truly.

Savor those moments with your daughter at the aquarium…sharks and all. That maritime world adds so much to our lives…in so many ways.

As always, I’m so grateful for your very kind words and support.

      πŸ™‚ !!!!!!!!

Yes, I agree. And I definitely will. We’re both excited about it. Can’t wait!!!

I’m pretty sure there’s a submarine near the aquarium too. When my brother was little he got to tour it.

    1. So many thanks, Dorothy.

From all my years at sea, I tried to put myself in the minds of the dolphins…choosing, intentionally, to launch themselves from what they know…the oceans…to the unknown.

      Fresh air….surrounding their bodies.

      They know.

      They know how to frolic.

      We humans…remain stuck.

      I guess.

Just a vision of freedom and pure beauty that comes to mind.
