Learning How… (Spoken Word Poetry)

Life alone, adrift,
Overwhelming waves of emptiness,
Thrashed me.

Churning,
Spilling,
Washing spirit from heart.

Tossed upon coarse stone beach,
Desolate, left to languish,
Emotions ebbing.

Limp on forsaken shore,
Burning,
Heart withering.

My parched lips,
Crusted with loneliness,

My stinging eyes,
Squinting,
Years of longing
Scalding any vision of forever,

My ears,
Numbed by thundering cacophony,
Just wanting to hear
“I love you,”
From the one.

And finally,
Then…

You.

Dew drop mist,
Your heart,
Showering my parched lips,
Rinsing emptiness,
Cleansing loneliness.

Soft dawn light,
Framing quiet elegance,
Your beautiful face,
Fulfilling my vision of forever.

Gentle whisper of your peace,
Resonate grace,
Melody restoring my spirit.

Years loneliness seized,
Essence shattered,

But present now
Your paradise,
Holding me.

Life now worth living,
Yearning to kiss,
Swelling hunger to touch,

Remembering how to live,

Learning how,

Learning how to…

Love again.

    1. Thank you! I was thinking about how refreshing and brilliant it would be to finally find the one…that special person that floods your mind with feelings so long forgotten…and missed. Learning how to love again.

      Does that make sense?
