Her Innermost Beauty… Awakening

Satin and silk,
Unnecessary, excesses,
To drape on her body,
Extravagance forgone.

Lavender lace,
She holds to the mirror,
Dressing room dreams,
Lingerie, on her skin.

And deep down inside,
She longs for a difference,
To live and showcase,
The woman she is.

Years, she deferred,
Never herself first,
To serve all the others,
Unfulfilled a result.

But now, unassuming,
With confidence beaming,
She shouts who she is,
A blooming inside.

She knows and accepts
Her inherent beauty,
Lingerie just symbol,
Bold changes to grasp.

So fly, be set free,
Feel in this moment,
Harness raw power,
Mirror’s sure, certain truth.

New paths to take,
Speak to her innermost,
Awakening her beauty,
Her world now to see.

  1. Happy New Year, Bill! I am glad to stop by your blog again. This is, as usual, an absolutely beautiful poem. I like the different style of this piece, where everything is told in the third person. A marvelous portrait of this woman.

    1. Happy New Year Marta! Thank you for stopping by and for your very kind comments. I must say that I was a little challenged to write from that perspective, but thought I’d give it a go as a creative exercise. Really appreciate your support!

      Have a wonderful day!

      1. So many thanks my friend. So many thanks.

In the near future, I’ll begin including an audio track of my recitation of the poems. We’ll see how that goes.
