Indelibly Marked

Glorious…

Her gentle ascendancy.

Whisper of her soft touch,
Carefully caressing his hurt.

Eternal,
Her all-embracing compassion,
Quietly accepting his faults,
Unworthiness,
Frail and failing.

Breath of her spirit,
Filling him tenderly,
Guiding him constructively,
Teaching him profoundly.

Radiating,
Shimmering now…

Dawn of deep devotion.

Rough hewn,
His younger years,
Scars of past pain,
Of no consequence
In her welcoming hands,

Shaping him,
Saving him.

Life,
His wounded world,
Now whole,
Healed.

Spirit,
His weakened soul,
Now strengthened,
Cleansed.

Heart,
Lost and lonely,
Now weeping,
Jeweled tears of joy.

A new man,
Released in her arms,

Restored,

For all to see…

So beautifully and

Indelibly

Marked,

By her love.

  1. I love the hope that’s weaved into this poem, Bill. Sometimes we feel like our past, our mistakes, our insecurities make us unworthy of someone’s love and life seems hopeless for us. Then someone comes around and shows us that we can be loved and appreciated… that there’s hope, despite all the hurts and pains, the mistakes and insecurities we have accumulated in life. You’ve done a beautiful job expressing that, my friend. This one touched me. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Brandi…and I’m so glad that it was meaningful to you. It’s exactly the way I feel.

And, when that special person enters our life, and touches us, I truly believe that “mark” can be seen by others in our new-found outlook Would you agree? Indelibly marked.

I hope you have a wonderful Friday Eve my friend!!!

      1. I totally get what you’re saying and so agree. It definitely leaves a mark on us when that special someone tattoos their love on our hearts, so to say. And it so changes us and how we perceive the world around us. Things just seem brighter, lighter and more hopeful. 🙂

Thank you so much for the well wishes, my friend! It’s a beautiful day here in Texas. The leaves are falling off the trees and piling up! I’m enjoying every bit of this Fall weather on this beautiful Friday eve. I wish the same beauty and enjoyment for you too, Bill!

      2. So many smiles to you Brandi. Perfect.

Sounds like your Texas fall has been more amenable than our DC fall. Wind howling and cold.

This is where you chastise me and say “Cowboy Up”!!

We accept now whiners in WP land!!

        🙂 !!

        You have that way….

And know, now, (that I’ve been shamed because I’m weak) I will Cowboy Up! Not because I’m a Dallas fan…but because it’s the right WP thing to do.

No stinkin’ bitter cold howlin’ wind is gonna get me now!!!

        🙂 !!!!

  2. her compassion heals and uplifts him, such a beautiful relationship of love wanting to heal in gentle strokes not changing the other just promoting deep meaningful connections. I am blessed to read your lovely words this morning. Just the tonic i needed.

    1. I’m so glad you like it Jamie!!! Thank you!!!

As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve been experimenting with shift in my “voice.”

      Previously, more plain…direct.

Now, meant to be slightly more complex,
      Teasing just a bit.

      Hopefully that’s not off-putting.

Your interest, nonetheless, keeps me motivated to “write on”!

      Thank you my friend!!

      1. My pleasure!! I really enjoy your writing.

I think its great !! I like the new style/ voice.. You’re doing a great job at it.

P.s. I finally got my new camera!! Now I just have to wait for a clear night to see how well it will work for capturing the moon. I’m also waiting for hunting season to finish up so I can go and test it out in the woods.
The holiday has kind of thrown my writing off track with being busy, but I’m hoping to get back in to the Rytheme soon. 😊

      2. So many thanks Jamie!! I really appreciate your feedback…so with that blessing, I’ll continue.

        🙂

So glad you got your new camera!!! How exciting!!! And, having grown up hunting…I totally get your comment.

Have you thought about early mornings? Just two days ago when I was leaving at 515am for gym/work, I saw Venus. Just illuminating the entire sky. I swear, Venus that morning nearly stole my heart (sorry Ms. Moon)…she was beautiful.

Regardless, I wait with great anticipation for your pending works!!!!!

      3. I look forward to reading your work!!

And thanks!! My friend that owns the farm said he wants to barrow my camera to find a buck lol ! Since it can zoom really far.

I’m not much of a morning person lol ! But I will have to bite the bullet and set my alarm to view the sky. And see what I’ve been missing.
        Sounds like an incredible view!!

  3. I like the way you begin with the single word “glorious”. Throughout the poem you pause and then add another single word, eternal, radiating, life and so forth. With each word the love grows stronger. Until your finale comes back to the title words. You take your time to show how each part of life has been “marked” by her love. Beautifully written. 🕊
