Rushing To My Destiny…

My entire life,
I have felt a pull,
An inner force urging my heart.

Impressions of forever
Drawing me forward,

Drawing me through
Colors of time,

Painting one moment…

To yet another scene
In my life,

In different hues of
Different times,

But never seeming
To paint a vision
Clear for my eyes to see,
And my heart to understand.

But now,

The meaning
Of this moment,
And the journey
To this point
Is unmistakable.

I was brought here,
To this time
And place
For a reason.

All the colors
Are conjoined
Into a beautiful portrait…

A portrait of forever,
Painted in the rich brush strokes
Of two people
So perfectly in love.

All of the pull,
All of the inner urging,

All of the colors
Passing before my eyes,
Are exposed to my heart
With the utmost clarity,

For now I understand.

I’ve been pulled forward
By the hands of fate
To make it to your arms…

To make it to the
Life meant to live,

To the romance
Meant for me,

Rushing to my destiny

With you.

    1. Thank you so much Jamie!!

I just had this notion of a man (or woman) being transported, unknowingly, to where they were meant to be…and that is a rendezvous with the person of their dreams.

And that’s the back story of “Rushing To My Destiny…”

      Really appreciate your comments!

      🙂 !

      1. I’m doing okay my friend…it’s a cold, blustery evening here in the nation’s capital. Sleet/rain tomorrow. Winter is forthcoming…

But you know, there’s something about being inside, warm, in the bitterness of winter that lends itself to writing. Yes?

        How are you?

      2. I am good and it’s very cold here, I guess -2 and feels like -7. I enjoy writing in winters too but I suffer from ocassional migraines and eye strains so take a break from computer screens!

      3. I hear you…and that’s cold!! Yikes!!

A break from the computer screen is always necessary. And in that case, I suggest the remedy to be Hennessey XO and a nice fire burning!

      4. Hennesey XO I’ll get it! the crackling sound and warmth of fire burning is indeed what I need! I may travel next month for a long vocation to Dubai and India and soak up all the 🌞 sun out there!

  1. Wow, wow, wow! Can I just leave it at that? 🙂

Really beautiful picture you painted of being drawn to a place and a person and finally realizing the reason why: Love. This is truly one of your best poems, Bill! I absolutely loved it.
