Perfectly Imperfect

We both have
Our scars…

Don’t we.

Those that can be seen,
Those of the wounded flesh,
A testament of past pain,
And determined recovery.

And those scars remaining unseen…

Those of the wounded heart,
A testament of past pain
As well…

And determined recovery.

Somehow in the serendipity of life,
Somehow by Grace,

We’ve crossed paths.

Now saving me
From a listless life.

Offering to hold
You for an eternity.

But both of us wounded,
Our scars,
Those seen
And unseen,

Are exposed
In the newness
Of our relationship.

And in the brutality
Of those naked scars,

Our eyes are forced to see,
And hear the echoes
Of our mutual hurt,

And struggles to heal.

But as I look at you now…

As I gaze into the richness
Of your beautiful eyes…

Wounds and
Scars and
Personal failure,

Are nowhere to be seen.

Perhaps you feel the same.

We’re just here,
In this now,
In this forever,

In this love…

Knowing plainly
The depth of commitment
We share,

And the innermost beauty
We see in one another,

Despite our scars.

My love,

It’s just you and me,

In all our scarred glory,

And each,

Each of us so

Perfectly imperfect.

      1. That’s the good and important stuff…isn’t it? All the rest of the churn in our lives is to be shunned in favor of that which is lasting…and truly meaningful.

        I’m just sayin’.

      3. You’re killin’ me!!! 🙂

I think about those days when I was young and could eat anything I wanted, whenever I wanted…and just burnt it off.

But you know what…I wouldn’t trade those days for this point in my life. It just seems to be so much richer…other than having to watch the calories. Sigh.

That’s alright…I can still splurge on the weekend!

We will improvise, adapt, and overcome!

      4. Oh…bless you…but that’s the beauty of having those tiny little Gravatar images.

I will say that I do maintain a very good fitness routine for my indeterminate age…all, to allow me to eat what I desire!

I know…that’s so sad! But true!!

        🙂 !!

      5. Heart should be young my friend, I’ve seen teenagers with a heart of 80 years old, sullen and sunken !
For so long I’m stuck in my teens, I’ve not gotten out yet, I just love carefreeness, laughters and drinks. I can talk about serious stuff and dying philosophies but what’s the point!!
And tiny gravatar images are cool, I look like regal cleopatra there 😊😊. Enjoy life!!

Yes, we will enjoy life…it’s the only one we get!

      1. Thanks! It’s one of those ideas that came to me in the middle of the night….why, I don’t know. But I just believe that two people in love look beyond the faults and frailties of their partners.

        The scars don’t matter…do they?

        Just my thoughts…

      2. Its weird because it think that phrase to myself quit a bit lol ! So when I saw it I was like this is great!! 😊!

And yes.. I so much agree with that.. Everyone has scars.. And if someone truly loves another they do see beyond all those faults and past hurts.
        You’ve expressed it perfectly!!

    1. Thank you so much! And I agree with you. I really believe that two people in love see beyond their scars to a deeper beauty.

And forgive me for my ignorance…but how should I refer to you? “Mamen”? I’m so sorry for being stupid…but details matter and I want to respect your preferences!

    1. Thank you Sarah!!

I’m so glad you liked it…and thank you for the comment!!

Because I choose to use, simple, straightforward language…I do try to format the words in a manner that emphasizes words, and pauses, and thoughts.

I really appreciate your interest in my efforts!!
