Recklessness

Walk with me
To the edge,

Every fear,
Every moment,
Every inhibition,
That says “no.”

Cast yourself with me
Into the deepest ocean
Of emotional uncertainty,
Miles of dark blue risk
Beneath us.

Hold your breath,
Now
Just below the surface,

Longing for that gasp of passion,

Knowing it is your life
That you need to breathe,

And then push through
That silver ceiling
Of the banal,

And inhale me.

Some say our lives
Need balance,
Want balance,

Perish without balance.

But listen to the whisper
Of my contrarian heart.

One moment of our touch,

The near heat
Of your hand in mine,

Will reveal to you,

The beauty,
And sensuous depth of

Recklessness.
