Keeping The Silence Company

Invulnerable?
Yes, that’s me.

Omnipotent?
Of course,
Me.

In control?
You mean me?
Undoubtedly.

Well…

If all of that is true,

Why do I sit here,
Tonight,

Alone,

With tears burning my eyes,
Strength absent,
And invincibility vanished?

Maybe this is where reality
Right-sizes my emotions,
Affirms that I am
Not in command,
And dictates a certainty.

A certainty of you,
Not missing…

Me.

Funny,
Isn’t it,
How at times
We believe
That we are in charge
Of a relationship,
And a future,

Only to be made
So surely aware

That we’re not.

And that,
Is where I find myself tonight.

No longer in your thoughts,
No longer in your dreams,

No longer in your love.

It’s just me…

Just me alone,

Keeping the silence company.

      1. You’re very welcome, my friend! I’m actually back home! Got discharged yesterday, so I’m playing catch up on the blog! 😁 Thank you for the well wishes and the support you showed me while I was away. And thank you for the compliment on my photo! 😃

        Hope you’re well, too!

      2. It’s fantastic news for me, too! lol

Yeah, we definitely have to take things a day at a time and hope that tomorrow will bring something greater than today. I’m glad to hear you are okay, my friend. 🙂

      3. I completely understand, and agree.

Tomorrow will surely bring better things. Seems to me that’s what hope and faith are all about. And that’s what I’m about!

        🙂

  1. Keeping the silence company ~ another inspired title and a beautiful poem about solitude and silence. Being alone can be a gift or a curse, depending on circumstances. I spend a fair amount of time alone out on the property and I try to think of it as a retreat from the world, but I still feel lonesome at times. Being alone does make me appreciate the times I do have with family and friends. Be well, my friend ❤️

    1. I so agree Sue… that’s the perfect way to describe it as a blessing and a curse.

And perhaps a muse for writing.

So much appreciate your comments and interest. Hope you are well!!
