…To Be True

If an emptiness
Spreads
Through you,

Filling you
With an absence of time,
And sullen disillusionment…

As if a future
Was there,

Just beyond
Your outstretched
Fingers…

Surety,
Finally yours,

To be grasped,
And consumed…

But now vanished.

If your dreams stopped
There,

Thwarted…
Unable to shatter
The looking glass
Separating you
From love.

If your heart wanted,
And needed nourishment,
At that moment…

Only to find

Famine,

Then listen to me.

Look into my eyes.

Take my hands.

Your emptiness
Is no longer.

Your dreams are
In the now.

The famine of your future
Is forever
Banished.

Your heart
Will surely

Be filled.

All I can tell you
Is that

I love you,
And need you,
And want you,
And cannot stop
This longing

To be yours.

There is nothing
More sure.

There is nothing
More real.

I am here,

I am your man,

I am yours.

Know…

Know this

To be true.

      1. This is one of your best. You lut a comforting, steadfast energy out there. Draw together some of your best and publish. Sometimes, it’s not about fame and money, but the ones you save and protect. A Marine gets that…good energy.

      2. Sorry, I meant Submariner gets that😉. I have known a few. Different kind of men. You’re on a good path.

It actually was quite a compliment. 😊

And yes, we submariners are a little different, but in a good way. 😊

      4. Thank you for the thoughts and encouragement! I certainly intend to do so!

Marine? Me? I was a submarine captain, but actually was very close to going into the Marine Corps when I graduated from USNA. It was a tough choice!

    1. I so appreciate your comments Sue!!!

I wanted to convey a pure and simple commitment, in direct language. Nothing more.

      Hopefully that came across.

As always, I so value your thoughts!!!!

      2. Wow!!! Sue, you have no idea how much that means to me. I started this writing journey about a year ago…neither knowing my path, nor how to navigate it. I just felt the need to give it a go…and somewhere along the line…I do feel like I found my voice. Whatever that means.

To know that my words are meaningful to others, and reach them in a special way, is enormously gratifying to me…especially in the context of my initial hopelessness.

Thanks so much for your so special encouragement and willingness to invest your precious moments reading my effort.

I thank you, deeply, my friend.

  4. Oh my, Bill, do you have women knocking your door down? Or have you kept your residence a secret!? Do you have a fabulous, grateful, love-filled lover with whom to share your romantic spirit or do you fantasize on-line to convey your pure and simple commitment, in direct language? You have so much love flowing out of you. I hope it has a real, live, sexy, grateful, reciprocating receiver!! Oh and by the way, on a more mundane topic, thanks for “liking” my blog on JanBeek today. I asked you who you were going to help today. You helped me. Thanks!

    1. Thank you!!!

Well, I have had a positive response from a variety of readers. I just want to write what’s on my heart, in a plain, straightforward way. Perhaps my thoughts are a compilation of my life experiences and dreams. Very, very cathartic, and I must say, at the end of the day when I’m done with my day-job and chores…all I want to do is write.

      Quite the release.

And, I so much enjoy your post, and it makes me smile that I helped you. Know that your message today helped me!!!

      🙂
