The Depth Of Unworthiness

Don’t you see…

Don’t you sense from me,
Just how perfect
You are
In my eyes?

It’s not just
That you
Define glamour
And elegance…

And sexiness.

No, it’s so much deeper,
Driving me to the outreaches
Of awe.

You realize,
Don’t you,
That the way
You bring grace
To life,
Is singularly special?

And your intellect
And wit
And professionalism
And unquestionable high standards
Shred the challengers
That dare to cross your path.

They haven’t a chance.

But somehow…

I do.

Why do you accept me
As I am?

Why do you accept
A lesser man,
Unequal to your status
And power
And influence?

I was drowning
In the Sargasso doldrums
Of an extraordinarily plain

Then fate gifted
The crossing of our paths.

So here I am,

Breathing life again,
Breathing the sustaining richness
Of you.

All a result of your love,
And acceptance of me,

Lifting me up,

Lifting me up

From the depth of unworthiness.

  1. This is beautiful, my friend! I think sometimes we don’t give ourselves enough credit in the process of admiring others. While we think we are unworthy of someone, they may actually feel the same way about us. 😊

  2. Oh, how smitten you are! What love does! It scrambles our brains! Love struck is a beautiful way to be, but who says you are a lesser man? I say you are not. Love is not granted by worthiness, you sweet sweet guy…did she marry you? Who could resist these lovely words? ❤

    1. I’m so glad you liked it, and I very much appreciate the comments!

It is amazing how that chemical, biological, psychological thing…whatever it is…we call love can just control us completely.

Maybe that’s no so bad! 🙂
