The Whispers Between These Words

As you read my thoughts,

As you consume these few sentences,

As you work through
The phrases,
And structure,
And tempo,

This is all I ask…

Look beyond the basic verse,
Open your heart to hear,

There’s so much,
That I want to tell you,
But just can’t find words.

Tomorrow is ours.

We just need to be patient,
And trust…

And picture ourselves
Embraced in forever.

Envision this eternal joy,
Envision our perpetual passion,

And now pause,

And listen,
Listen closely,

So closely for

The whispers
Of my love for you…

The whispers
Of my unfailing commitment
To you…

The whispers of our eternity…

Listen for the whispers

Between these words.

  1. This is really amazing, Bill. Sometimes, it’s the silent message, unspoken words, we hope the other can hear. It takes special listening skills to pick up on such things. I love how you encourage the person to listen deeply for the whispers. As if you really, really need them to hear what you want them to know. Really beautiful poem, my friend! πŸ™‚

    1. I so much appreciate your analysis and feedback Brandi! And, I so agree. The expanse of feelings and a relationship go so far beyond the structured, pedantic methodology of our lives. We just need to listen for the whispers. Or, at least, that’s what I believe. As always, I’m honored to have you read my work and provide your thoughts. πŸ™‚
