Brush Strokes Of The Portrait

Just yesterday,
I was at a café,
For a cup
Of coffee,

When I saw
A woman
With lustrous,
Flowing,
Tawny locks
Like yours…

But not completely
You.

And then,
On that busy sidewalk,
Fighting my way
Back to my office,

There,
On another
Captivating woman
Was your
Brilliant smile…

But not completely
You.

Later in the day,
I attended a meeting,
And the woman presenting,

Was so sharp,
And witty,
And commanding…

So totally in control…

But not completely
You.

And last night ended
At a bar with colleagues,

No surprise…

And my eyes settled
On a beautiful,
Sensual,
Overwhelming woman…

But not completely
You.

And it struck me,

That in my world,
There are attractive women
Who intrigue me.

There are women
Who express themselves
With such confidence,
And edginess,
And sexiness…

But when
It comes
Right down to it,

So many
May have
A part of you…

But none,
Is all of you.

They are simply
Brush strokes…

Of you

Strong,
Beautiful woman.

You are the complete

Portrait

Of my love.

    1. Really appreciate it! Don’t know why I thought of that…but it just happened. Guess I feel like I just need to let it out and go with it. Sometimes that strategy works, and sometimes it doesn’t. 🙂

And BTW, back to our conversation this past week, I looked through all my old WP emails and unfortunately couldn’t find what I was looking for. Thought I had some group blogs that would accept a variety of work such as your book review. Sorry I couldn’t find it!
