In The Stillness

In the stillness,
My ears rang
With a dissonance,

Divorcing safety,
And surety
From my life.

All that I needed,
All that I dreamed of
Simply,
Dust.

In the stillness,
I heard my heart yearn,
For acceptance,
And compassion,
And seduction.

In the stillness,
I heard my body ache,
And cede,
For a touch,
Simply soft…
And certain.

In the stillness,
In the beauty,
And enlightenment
Of that stillness…

My mind and soul,
Longed for a peace
To fill this empty
Life.

And in that moment
Of quiet,
Your whisper rose,

Spilling into me.

How did you know?

How did you know
What I needed…

What my heart
Knew to be imperative?

How did you whisper
To me
Salvation?

But also,

How was I
To know,
And trust

In the truth,
And beauty,

Spoken,
So softly,
And purely
By you…

In the stillness?

Then,
I reflected on,
And accepted,

That so often in life,
The most important gifts,

Are heard clearly…

In the stillness.

We just need to listen.

      1. Perhaps it’s listening with the heart rather than the ears. So many different, and special ways with which our bodies communicate. Rebellion against the norm is powerful.

  1. A whispering breeze lands gently on the ears ~ In stillness is where we should all be, it would sure make a pretty world Bill. It speaks volumes in monotones ~ Beautifully written description, tone, and expression!
