For Eternity

Maybe it’s not meant
To be complicated
Or confusing.

Perhaps our lives
Bear a clarity,
Not yet disclosed
To our wanting hearts.

The clairvoyance
Of emotion
May not be as evasive,
And mystical
As we portend.

Perhaps love,
And predilection
Are just before us…

In our fingertips,

In our grasp.

Maybe we’re thinking
About this
Too much.

Just maybe…

We simply

Need to reset,

And view our lives,

And the chance for love…

More simply…

Like two teenagers
With the rush of blood,
And heat,
And yearning…

From that first kiss.

Here are my hands,
And heart.

Just me,

And willing
To love you

Nothing more.

Forget the baggage,
And obstructions.

Go with me
To a different place
Of simplicity,

And longing,

And serenity.

So pure,

And meaningful,

And real.

Let’s be a little more

And a little less,

Assume everything,

Risk everything…

For a chance to love,

To love…

For eternity.

  1. “Just maybe…we simply need to reset and view our lives….more simply”- Wonderfully put! I agree with the shared sentiment. Perhaps the world and all it holds is simple and innocent, and we beings have conceptualized it as a maze, a game, a challenge. Thank you for this poem, a nice way to begin the day πŸ™‚

    1. And as it is effectively late for a northern latitude, early riser, I hope to see your thoughts tomorrow. All good things are exposed at 5am, aren’t they? Hope you have a wonderful day. πŸ˜ƒ
