It’s Just Me…Missing You

Just a few pixels,
Captured by my phone,

Unsophisticated,

Unprofessional,

Nothing worthy of publication.

A simple photograph,
A moment,
Frozen in time,
Of me.

Beard,
Yes,

That’s a part
Of me.

Creases around the eyes,
Yes,

That’s me
As well,

Just an indicator
Of time,

And the wisdom,
That success,
And failure,

Have foisted…

On me.

But in this photograph,
Ignore the roughness…

Ignore the creases…

Look squarely
Into my eyes.

There is nothing more pure
Than that…

Do you agree?

So,

What do you see?

A yearning?

Yes.

An undiminished burning,
For you?

Yes.

Maybe,

What you see…

Is a portrait
Of a future.

What you see,
Is simple…

It’s just me…

Missing,

You.
