So Susceptible…To You

I always thought
That I was strong,

Regardless of life’s challenges,
I would…

And could…

Make it
On my own terms.

Independent.

Self-reliant.

In

Control…

But then,

I met you,

And I understood,
With complete clarity,

The fallacy
Of my strength.

Just your smile,

Just the way
You twirl your hair
In those beautiful fingers
While you gaze at me,

Just the way
You flirt…
So subtly.

I can’t stop myself,
Nor,
Apparently,
Do I want to.

You connect
Completely
With my heart.

Your words
Etch
Indelibly,
An elegant passion
Across my lips.

You,

You are everything
That I have
Ever

Dreamed of.

But please understand,
And accept,
My hunger for this,

This love.

Know the ramifications.

Consider my hurt,

Concede the fire of desire,
You will so surely start.

I am so…

So Susceptible…

To you.

  1. Isn’t love beautiful Bill!? It can take you to places where passion fires never burn out! You are a romantic wordsmith softly touching, and teasing the virgin lips of poetry. No one can ever have poetry, it belongs to everyone! But you have risen to the head of the line. Always lovely writing by you Bill.

      1. Bill, I just now signed in and found your comment. How lovely that you write so openly. And how you always leave your heart dangling for your readers to relate!
