It wasn’t what you said,
Or did,
But rather…
What you didn’t say,
And didn’t do…
That spoke volumes.
Having read that work
Before,
Suffocating,
As those words have been,
And continue to be
Tonight,
Once again,
I was force-fed
The pain…
Now.
Regardless of what I say,
Or do…
There is
No resonance,
No acceptance,
No timbre…
No…
Touch,
Just the disharmony
Of dissociation.
What are we,
Or what…
Were we?
So many years,
And dreams,
And elusive ideas
Of Elysian Fields…
Waning.
Maybe,
Maybe,
That’s what
You want.

Speculations are often very wrong. Women tend to be coy. That you can be sure. You could have taken her the wrong way. Re-assess the situation again; she may have been mis-read. I don’t know if I can speak for her, but maybe if she knew how to or finds the courage to you’d be quite surprised. Reminds me of the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CgXhTKmHzE

Bread is one of my all-time favorite groups, and “Diary” brought back so many memories of another place and time. Really thoughtful of you to make that connection. It was perfect Vera! As always, I so much appreciate your insight and reflections. Wonderful, so wonderful.

Your poems always remind me of Bread. Maybe that’s the reason I love them. Apart from the beautiful words that seem to just roll off your tongue.
It just occurred to me you never knew my name until last night. I could really take umbrage at that, if I wanted to 🙂

Did I just say “mind”? Perhaps “mend” is more apropos. Have I mentioned I dispise these small keyboards? 😃

Being clumsy has a way of making people smile. 😃

No, it’s the pretend clumsy… and if that woman in the poem is anything like me she will also find it quite so endearing.

You’re welcome… I joined the hyperlink to the last word so that it didn’t appear as a video. Takes up too much room.

Sometimes, it’s the small things left undone and unspoken that hurt the most.
