By This Spring Sunset

As I close my eyes this evening,
And feel the warmth
Of the spring sunset
On my wanting face,

The pageant of life
Fills me.

Even with this simple,
Physical gesture
Of obstructing light…

Blanketing my eyes,

I still consume the radiance.

For so many desolate cold months,
I’ve longed for the shine
And warmth.

Just to experience the newness of this new year,
To see the regeneration of life,
To relish in yet another day to live.

And magnified
In this moment
Of peaceful epiphany,

Is the vision of you.

The beauty that I see,
The warmth of the sunset,
All of this grace,
Is subordinated to you.

This joy in living,
And experiencing the revelations
Revealed by another spring,
Are overcome
By the extraordinary elegance
Of you.

A matchless soft evening,

A glorious newness,

A perpetual rejuvenation,

And the timelessness

Of you…

All so beautifully illustrated,

By this

Spring sunset.
