Totally Exposed

Let’s speed beyond
The unimportant…

Those throwaway,
Purposeless points
Of initial connection
And casual conversation.

So much can be
Our great good fortune,
And a future
With profound,
Resonant love.

Race with me to that
Glorious intimacy.

Let me learn you,
And you me.

Peel back the calluses
Guarding our hearts.

And accept
What hurts the most,
And what enrobes
Us with pleasure.

What is your vision
Of a perfect forever?

I’ll tell you mine.

What gives you comfort,
And a sense of safety?

Where do you dream
For your life to be
In 5 years,

Let me tell you
My dreams.

Beyond the clothing,
Beyond the emotional defenses,
Beyond the false fronts
We erect,

There is the innermost
And me.

Take my hand.

Let’s run to that
Nexus of devotion,
Running as if
Our lives together
Depended on it…

Because they do.

Bare yourself to me…

And I will bare myself to you,

Both of us where we need
So desperately to be…

Totally exposed.
