Make You Feel…Again

I cannot begin
To understand
The pain of your past.

Taken for granted…

Left in a void,
Empty of emotion,

Heart hurting,
Lungs struggling to breath,
Body aching for rest,
And comfort,
And peace.

I cannot blot out
The stains of your unforgotten,
Or sooth the throbbing
Of your memories…

But I can do this.

I can hold you.

I can look into your eyes,
And paint for you
A vision,
A portrait,
Of forever.

I can imbue
A surety
And safety,
And comfort.

There are many things
In this world
That I cannot do…

But I can
Make you feel wanted,
And cherished,
And beautiful…

And loved.

Understandably unwilling
To trust,
Or open your heart
To another,
I can breathe a newness
Into you.

I can make you

Please let me.

      1. You are one of the jewels of WP-Land so it’s my true honor to be part of your tribe. This world would be in far better shape if people took a leaf of compassion from your book.

      2. I don’t know what to say…other than thank you. At the end of the day, in my amateurish way, I just want the words struggling to be released from my heart and mind…to be set free. Knowing that someone, so accomplished in this space, appreciates those words is very meaningful to me. Especially in light of my plebian, free verse style. I so appreciate your encouragement!!

      3. Well first, you are NO amateur. Second, you release your emotions and desires well, which is the soul of a poet/writer. Setting them free to be appreciated by others and sharing your human-experience is the value. Plebian huh? I think not! And I’m a HUGE free-verse fan as you know, because I rarely write by rule, that’s what I did at 16. Free verse seems like the evolution from that. I shall always encourage you my friend.
