It wasn’t just the flesh on flesh
He needed.

Hearts beating in
Converging swells.

Breath straining,

Muscles moving,
As if to make the final point
In that moment of time.

He needed more,
So much more…
Than that.

He wanted to look into her eyes,
And see to a destiny
Beyond his limited horizon.

He wanted to feel her heart beat,
As if it was his own,
And fundamental to his living,
And his very soul.

He wanted to feel
The gentle breeze of her breath
On his cheek,
As if lifting the dew
On a new summer day.

He wanted to take in the freshness
Of her mane,
Cascading on his shoulder,
With the beauty and fragrance of
A wild flower meadow.

No…it wasn’t just the sex.

He needed, and longed for
The moment…
With her.
