Bad For You

We both know a relationship
Between us
Could not work.

You,
Elegant,
Refined,
Perfect in every way.

Not simply beautiful…
Breathtakingly beautiful,
And right,
In all you do…

The grace of your life
Untouched,
Transcendent.

Me…
Rough,
Hard from a hard life.

Hungry,
Always hungry
For what tastes good…
For what feels good.

Calloused,
Wanting so desperately,
To learn to care,
And love,
Again.

How can you accept me
For what I am?

How can you want,
And need,
Me…
To be part of your perfect
Life?

But I am here…

Now…

Hoping,
And praying,
Despite almost certain rejection
That somehow,
Someway…

You would help change me,
You would take me
For your own,

Broken,
Rough…

Totally,
Wrong.

And in all likelihood…

Bad for you.
