Hasten Sun

I sat there, on our front step,
Watching the sun go down,
And with the process,
Saw the grandeur of an ever-changing portrait.

I couldn’t take my eyes off the sky and clouds.

Every minute, transforming the moment,
Constantly painting from a different palette,
Remarkable beauty,
Breathtaking splendor.

A part of me wanted this to last forever…

Do not set Sun,
Stay still golds and rubies
And aquamarine of sky…
Do not leave me…

Not now.

Then, I thought of you,
And the beauty of you lying there,
In our bed,
Early in the morning.
You, still fast asleep, dreaming.

That, that enough is price to pay for these dying embers of daylight…

Knowing, that just hours from now,
Early next morning,
Me…seeing you…tranquil,
In our bed,
Will best this beautiful sunset.

Hasten Sun, take this twilight,
Move me to

And that vision of her.
