Hold My Hands

When your day starts,
And ends badly…

Hold my hands.

When you feel the unending stress,
And pressure,
And anxiety,
From your work…

Hold my hands.

As you weep,
When your daughter
Leaves home to start
Her new life…

Hold my hands.

When your parents grow old,
And infirm,
And you worry…

Hold my hands.

And now,
Thinking of all these challenges to come…

And as we stand at this altar…

Professing our love,

Eternal,

Before all these witnesses,
And our God…

Hold my hands…

And say…

“I do.”
